Phil and Jacqui

Welcome to Sabato

Since 1993 we have been sourcing fine foods primarily from Italy, Spain and France. Most of our suppliers are small (often family run) businesses who use traditional methods of production to create outstanding products. We regularly travel to Europe to check product quality, collect information on trends and source new interesting products/suppliers. As a result, Sabato has been first to introduce many key ingredients to the New Zealand market, such as La Chinata smoked paprika, Calogiuri Vincotto, El Navarrico piquillo pimientos and Valrhona chocolate, and we enjoy continuing to make exciting additions to the range.

Our Store

Sabato supplies many of the great restaurants and fine food stockists throughout New Zealand.  Our store is located at 57 Normanby Road, Mt Eden and is open 7 days a week.

Jacqui Watt

Jacqui Watt - National Sales & Marketing Manager

Jacqui has been with Sabato since 2007. As National Sales and Marketing Manager she heads both our marketing and sales teams who look after retailers and restaurants around the country. Jacqui likes to use our Montanari Parmigiano Reggiano  and ourGiusti Riccardo Balsamic ~ miniature as a finishing touch for many dishes. 
Calum

Calum Hodgson - Cheesemonger

Calum joined the team in 2014 as our dedicated cheesemonger, selecting and caring for our range of cheeses. Calum works with restaurants and retailers to ensure all they are getting what’s tasting best each season and that our cheese gets to the customer in top condition. Calum loves all things fermented, with a promiscuous bias towards the washed rind family of stinky cheeses.

Andy Gladding - National Food Service and Distribution Account Manager

Andy has come from a strong hospitality background. He brings a wealth knowledge from this industry having been the head Sommelier at The French Café for a number of years. Andy loves our Ortiz Anchovies in Oil  and is a big fan of Wangapeka Matariki

Petra Galler - Sales Support

Petra is a key member of our sales team providing support for food service and distribution. Petra has a passion for food and is a chef by trade. She loves our Valrhona chocolate.

Brooke Hannah - National Retail Account Manager

Brooke is a key part of the Sales team, liaising with supermarkets and other independent retailers. Brooke loves Rustichella Spaghetti  sprinkled with freshly shaved Parmigiano Reggiano . She also enjoys using Quisardegna Fregola Sarda  to liven up her soups and winter salads. 

Susie Clemens - Sales Support

Susie provides critical sales support to our busy sales team. You may remember her from her previous role as receptionist.  Susie loves using Julie Le Clerc Moroccan Chutney especially when served with Mahoe Very Old Edam . She is also a big fan of  Valrhona Caramélia Crunchy Pearls bar .

 

 

 

Neil Schultz – Retail Store Manager

Neil came to Sabato with a particular interest in cooking experimental dishes. His specialties include home-cured bacon, La Chinata paprika jelly and squid ink bagels! You’ll often find Neil behind our cheese counter, helping customers with their cheese selections. Gruyère is one of his firm favourites.
