This old vines Tempranillo carries aromas of juicy red fruit, clove and cinnamon over an earthy and mineral background. On the palate, it has a meaty body sustained by a crisp acidity. Intense notes of red and black fruit, remembrances of balsam, menthol and garrigue and dim toasted of mineral nuances ends with mild tannins and a long, toasted finish.

Description

A reinterpretation of high altitude Rioja. Orben is Artevino’s boutique project. This is a revision of Rioja through micro plots of old vineyards planted in the highest areas of Rioja Alavesa, in the vicinity of Laguardia. Virtually a varietal Tempranillo, this red wine is sourced from 79 small parcels composed of sandy-limestone soils and planted between 1945 and 1954 in the heart of La Rioja Alavesa. It is complemented with a 3% Graciano. Malolactic fermentation was carried out in tanks and oak barrels. After that,Orben 2020 was aged for 14 months in new and 2nd year French oak barrels (50/50).

Pair with meat dishes, duck, turkey, or a rich truffle dish.
